The new Mizuno JPX 919 Forged irons are already a hit amongst golfers around the globe. Mizuno has improved upon the extremely popular 900 series clubs they made last year are once again leaving their mark on the golf iron market. Let’s take a closer look at these irons to see if they’re the best golf clubs for your game.
Technology
New Clubface Design
The design possibilities of the Mizuno JPX 919 forged irons evolve with every new model that Mizuno releases. This year, Mizuno added Boron to the clubhead, which makes the steel 30% stronger. This may sound trivial, but stronger steel allows engineers to reduce the thickness of the clubface. The Mizuno JPX 919 forged irons feature a CNC back milled face. All you need to know about this is that the new clubface has a very thin layer of steel, which translates to faster ball speed. The weight distribution of this clubface combined with the thin face allows for the center of gravity to be deeper in the clubhead. The result of lowering the center of gravity is a more flighted penetrating ball flight, especially on the long and mid irons.
Clubhead Frame
The Mizuno JPX 919 Forged irons feature a stability frame design. The frame is open at the heel section to enhance stability, launch, and flight. This stability is intended to translate into more consistent ball flight.
Strong Lofts
The lofts on the Mizuno JPX 919 Forged irons tend to be a bit on the stronger side. This rings true for all of the 919 irons produced this year. Below is a chart with all club lofts.
Design
The Mizuno JPX 919 Forged irons are sleek golf clubs. They feature a slim profile at address and avoid a bulky look and feel. These irons keep with the tradition of the 900 series irons are just a bit flashier. Overall, they look really good.
