We’re very excited to announce the 2nd Annual Grow the Game Scholarship Winner. This scholarship was created to support students who make active efforts to grow the game of golf, pursue golf-related careers, play golf competitively, and are active in the golf community via education, charity, or employment at a golf-related facility.
The winner of the 2nd annual Two Golf Guys Grow the Game Scholarship is Lois Sheaffer, who will attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott AZ this fall.
Lois stood out from the hundreds of excellent applications by demonstrating her genuine love for the game of golf and commitment to growing as a leader. She started playing golf the summer before her freshman year of high school and within 3 years had dropped her scoring average to under 78 – a sign of both talent and hard work.
In addition to having a sharp game, Lois has a sharp mind and big plans for the future. At Embry Riddle, she plans to take a plan of study that combines her love for the game of golf with her love for all things Aeronautical.
While playing for Kim and Mike Haddow on the Embry Riddle girls golf team (a team that has one the CalPac championship six times in a row) she also intends to study Aeronautical sciences with a minor in weather and piloting.
Lois is excited to be an Embry Riddle Eagle on one of the most competitive golf teams in the country, but she is perhaps even more excited for what comes after graduation. Once certified as a pilot, Lois intends to fly with golf pros all over the world. Her ambition is traffic pro golfers from tournament to tournament either private or publicly.
Until then though, golf is still very much a part of her immediate plans. This summer Lois will split her time equally between her two passions, logging practice flight hours to satisfy the requisites of Embry Riddle Aeronautical while also volunteering Golf Dynamics.
There she intends to work with other young women, teaching them the game that has given her so much. We’re proud to support her in her contributions to the game of golf and her pursuits of her own goals.
